Preacher of the Gospel at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church 

Rev. Simmons was licensed to preach the Gospel on January 24, 1993, by Bishop Dr. James Berry, Pastor, and Dr. Rozetta Jackson, Minister of Religious Education of the Gospel Cathedral Baptist Church.

Rev. Simmons received her Certificate of Ordination on February 26, 1994, to do the work of the Gospel Ministry.

​

She organized and pastored Grace Cathedral Baptist Church in the South Bronx, New York City in January 1999.

​

Rev. Simmons attended and received her Master of Theology degree on April 24, 1999 at New York Theological Seminary.  Her family members include her mother, Octavia Simmons and husband, Arthur Porter; sisters, Rosemary and Gail; granddaughter, Dominique Parke-Grant; nieces, Saminthia, Ciara, Sherald, Armana; and nephews, Charlton and Wayne.  Her friends for over 40 years are Sherry Kilgore and Michael Young.

Rev. Simmons was invited to Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church by her friend Sister Yvette Hopby, and she became a member.  She believes her pastor, Rev. Elijah Williams teaches and preaches Salvation to our souls.
